Odda Smelteverk

These pictures are taken in and around a hundred year old smelt work in a small town by the Hardanger fjord, in Norway. The smelt was very significant in the industrial revolution in the early 1900’s and produced among other calcium carbide and calcium cyanamide derivatives, that was exported to Great Britain, France and Hungary. The smelt went bankrupt in 2002 and have since suffered several fires, destroying most of the buildings around the site.
